The detached garage at our client’s house was quite restricted and was looking for more workable space within. Following a site visit and consultation, we dropped the existing garage. New footings were required for the new larger garage, which sat on a footprint of 6.5m x 10m. The solid floor makeup included 100mm insulation, to ensure high thermal properties.
This was partnered with fully insulated cavity walls and a vaulted pitch roof that contained 100mm Actis insulation.
Due to the client wanting a workshop to use at the rear of the building, we dry lined and plastered the space and fitted Georgian double glazed windows, with matching French doors. To flood the space with natural light we also fitted a Velux window above the workshop area.
Grey Free foam cladding was used on the gable ends to match into the existing house, while a smooth render covered all existing wall space. The client was immensely happy with the finish and timeframe of this project, which we completed in a total of 10 weeks.
The new garage gave the client a much larger, fully insulated storage space and a versatile working area that could be used as a gym, home office, yoga studio or arts space.
