Garden entertaining space and bar

Garden entertaining space and bar

Our client was looking to create an alfresco bar area in the south easterly corner of a long garden. This position would give the user a stunning view bak up the garden towards the main house and provide shade during the hottest part of the day, before being drenched in the late afternoon sun.

After clearing the site and laying a concrete base flanked by treated woden sleepers, we constructed a large three sided structure from luxurious 2inch wide timber. The decision to go for a pitched tiled roof completely transformed the aesthetic and by sourcing reclaimed roof tiles we were able to match it to the roof of their home just 100yards up the garden.

Electrics were brought to the garden structure through an armoured cable which be buried beneath the lawn. After second fixing the lighting and plug sockets, we had the floor tiled in a hard-wearing rustic floor tile and began work on the bespoke bar area. Utilising the additional timber left over from the building, we created a generous bar complete with under counter storage. Behind the bar we built a worktop and sideboard, with staggered shelving for spirits and liqueurs whilst also allowing for a waste bin and drinks fridge.

From our initial site visit to completion, the project took just five days and left the client with a sheltered garden area from which they now entertain visiting family and friends, as well as enjoying simple late afternoons with a cup of tea and a chilled glass of wine.

“It’s completely transformed how we use our garden. I feel like it’s an extension of our home and that we actually ‘live’ in our garden now. When family come to visit they head straight to the bar, and most mornings my husband and I will sit down there with our morning cup of tea. Luke was incredibly professional and worked like a Trojan, what impressed us the most was how tidy he kept our garden, which was a big worry for my husband.”
